A Day in Monterey

One of the highlights of our Feb break was this day trip to Monterey. It was one out of the two sunny days we had the entire week! I was feeling a bit blue, not being able to go to L.A. and then to the snow so this was a good day for us! The family really enjoyed Bubba Gump's. This usually busy restaurant only had eight occupied tables so we were able to eat right away, even at noon time. The girls enjoyed strawberry lemonades and fish and chips. I had the shrimp poorboy which was sooo good. Randy had the catch of the day.

Amanda trying to swim like a dolphin....

Amanda thoroughly enjoyed all of the sealife there. One of her favorites was looking up at this circular display of anchioves.

We tried to get a picture of the girls in this shell but Amand would have nothing to do with it. I think this was about shot 8 of 25 or something like that. Thank goodness for digital!

They have a new playarea at the aquiarium that was really fun. But they really had a blast at the Denise the Menace Park afterwards. It was an amazing playground!

Touching starfishes...seaweed....shells..etc....we waited a long time to touch the stingray but it refused to get near us!

Enjoying the beach...Rachel found some pretty neat looking shells...Amanda was scared to get close to the water. She remembered last summer when Rachel's toys got washed away at the beach.....she kept saying, "No, I don't want to get washed away!"
